Buffalo and Back Home

So today we saw herds of buffalo and 50,000 acres of burnt trees in Custer State Park that burned December 12th of last year.   According to the state park "rules" there is no picking of morel mushrooms inside of the park. Really?!?!  We also got a taste of thunderstorms and hail, thankfully seeing most of the storm’s aftermath with hillsides covered in hail that looked like snow from a distance, until we saw nickel sized pieces piled up in the bar ditch.

The best email we got today came from our wonderful neighbors Jan and Rob. They know we feed our squirrels and have bonded with one particular critter.

Here is what they had to say,"Just another sunny day on Tara Drive. Just to let you know everything looks good. The sprinklers are sprinkling, the security is securing, the grass is growing, and the house is quiet...I got up early, early Saturday morning and saw your squirrel standing in your driveway wearing a visor and t shirt (it was yellow with green letters and read: Migration isn’t just for the birds). He was leaning on a smallish duffle bag, head hanging and I can’t be sure but was that a tear rolling down his cheek? Don’t know, hard to tell with all that fur. Anyway, you are missed already."

The only thing I can say is that someone brainwashed our squirrel. He would never be wearing yellow and green. As a Cougar he normally would be sporting crimson and grey! And that is our blog for the day.
